  2. Dr. Abid, excisional biopsy when all the tumor is removed and sent to the lab as in malignant melanoma and most of skin cancers. Incisional when a part of it is removed and sent. Wedge biopsy is considered when the lesion is removed with a wedge of normal surrounding tissue. I wish this answers your question. Thank you Dr.
